FAIRVIEW PARK EDUCATION ANNOUNCES SPRING 2023 GRANT AWARDS
Fairview Park, Ohio – On April 27, 2023, the Fairview Park Education Foundation Board of Trustees approved $4,650 in Spring Grant Awards for teachers and staff of the Fairview Park City Schools. The awarded grants include:
$4,200 was awarded to Kim Dunlap at Lewis F. Mayer Middle School to purchase the Arckit Academy Bundle & Lesson Plans. These are building blocks designed for her STEAM classes as a “hands-on design tool for bringing architectural ideas to life using modern building techniques”. This reusable kit will provide students with challenges to use their skills to create and collaborate with classmates to be successful.
$450 was awarded to Christopher Sawicki at Fairview High School to purchase games for his “Social and Emotional Learning Through Gaming” project. These games will allow the special needs students “to identify their feelings, understand and communicate with others, build strong relationships, and make good empathetic decisions”.

PURPOSE OF GRANT: To help students with special needs improve social interaction skills and learn cooperation, turn-taking, and good decision-making.

OUTCOME GRANT (RESULTS ACHIEVED):
Students enjoyed learning new games and involving typical peers. Learning cooperation and turn-taking were apparent not only within the games but also in deciding which game would be played on a particular day, as favorite games were adopted by each student.

FAIRVIEW PARK EDUCATION FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES FALL 2023 GRANT AWARDS
Fairview Park, Ohio – On November 16, 2023, the Fairview Park Education Foundation Board of Trustees approved $3,391 in grant awards for teachers and staff of the Fairview Park City Schools.
The awarded grants include:
$210 was awarded to Madison Vargo at Parkview Early Education Center to purchase and rent materials for hatching chicks. “The purpose of this project is to help bring agriculture into the classroom.” The students would learn how chicks live and grow, how we get food from animals, and how to care for and respect animals.
$1621 was awarded to Nicole Crum, Dana Reuter, Dan Maeder, Keri Laughlin, Katie Kellner, Jill Lackey, and Madison Flagg at the Parkview Early Education Center to purchase books for guided math instruction. “The purpose of this program would be to purchase more math-related trade books in the program for classroom teachers to provide literacy connection to each math unity that is taught.” the students would be able to connect math with real-life experiences as illustrated in the books.
$1720 was awarded to Megan Wellman for use at Gilles Sweet Elementary School and Parkview Early Education Center for DAP Preschool. This is to purchase materials for kindness rocks, an art project “to increase and deepen the social/emotional intelligence of each student, promote cooperative learning skills, and strengthen connectivity to others in the classroom.”
$380 was awarded to Madison Flagg at Parkview Early Education Center to purchase materials for an inclusive flower cart. This will be used in a high-needs classroom that would create flower arrangements to sell in the school. The purpose would be for “the students to learn how to follow a checklist, complete hands-on vocational skills, and interact with different peers and teachers.”
The Fairview Park Education Foundation provides grants for the staff of the Fairview Park City Schools for the enrichment of the school curriculum, the enhancement of instruction, and the implementation of other appropriate activities to achieve specific education goals. The grants are funded through individual donations and proceeds from fundraisers.
