Family Reading Night: Families that Read Together, Succeed Together
A Foundation grant awarded to Diane Ward, Barb Brady, Trish Moran, Linda Lapping, Angela Hillman, Pat Cook and Nancy Holder from Gilles-Sweet Elementary School to fund an evening program offering parents ideas about how to read with their children at home. Program will include: librarians from the Cuyahoga County Public Library who will present a story to encourage listening and attention to details skills; an activity in which students will create a craft relating to the evening’s theme; a “theatrical” performance of a beloved children’s book character, Amelia Bedelia; a puppet show held in the gymnasium which will mirror one of the fairy tales or folk tales that all of the students studied early in elementary grades in Library.

Developmental Assistance Program PLAY Bags
A Foundation grant awarded to Jennifer Sheridan and Megan Wellman from the DAP Special Education Preschool. Funded the purchase of 36 Tote Bags packed with educational materials to increase pre-academic skills. The bags include books, materials, and hands on activities that students can take home to reinforce early literacy skills with their parents.
Tickle Me ELMO
A Foundation grant awarded to Anne Dance from the Fairview High School Math Department for the purchase of 5 ELMO document cameras to assist with demonstration of critical calculator skills by projecting calculator and paperwork side-by-side, increase student involvement in lessons, and expedite review of homework, tests and quizzes.
